Question 1

How does shelf life from production date affect the validity of a quote for Wine?

Accepted Answer

The shelf life from production date dictates the usable window for Wine once it arrives at the destination port. If the transit time consumes more than half the remaining shelf life, the product may be rejected by retailers or distributors. Buyers must ask for the exact production date on the listing to calculate the remaining usable period against their local sales cycle. A quote that ignores this timeline is structurally flawed and likely to result in a loss.

Question 2

What is the difference between ambient and temperature-controlled carriage for Beer shipments from France?

Accepted Answer

Beer requires temperature-controlled carriage to maintain flavour stability and prevent spoilage during transit from France. Ambient carriage is only suitable for specific high-alcohol or preserved variants that are chemically stable at room temperature. Using ambient carriage for standard Beer exposes the buyer to high rejection risks at the destination. The landed cost difference between these two carriage methods must be weighed against the product's stability profile before ordering.

Question 3

Why is facility registration mandatory for Industrial Alcohol entering regulated markets?

Accepted Answer

Facility registration is mandatory for Industrial Alcohol because regulators require traceability of the production site to ensure safety standards. Without this registration, the health certificate issued by the French authority will not be recognized by the destination country's customs. This step is non-negotiable for compliance and prevents the shipment from being held or destroyed. Buyers must verify this registration number exists before signing any purchase agreement.

Question 4

How does carton cube impact the freight charge for Red bull type energy drinks?

Accepted Answer

Carton cube determines the volumetric weight, which often exceeds the actual weight for Red bull type energy drinks. Freight charges are calculated based on the larger of the two values, meaning space efficiency is critical. Buyers should request the case count per layer and pallet dimensions to calculate the true landed cost. Ignoring carton cube leads to significant underestimation of freight expenses and reduced profit margins.

Question 5

What allergen labelling is required for Alcoholic Concentrates with added flavours?

Accepted Answer

Alcoholic Concentrates with added flavours require allergen labelling in the destination language to comply with food safety regulations. The label must declare any allergens present in the flavouring agents or the base alcohol itself. Failure to include this information in the destination language results in immediate rejection at the border. Buyers must ensure the supplier provides a mock-up of the final label before production begins.

Question 6

How does extraction or purity percentage define the grade of Industrial Alcohol?

Accepted Answer

Extraction or purity percentage defines the grade of Industrial Alcohol by specifying the concentration of ethanol and the presence of denaturants. This percentage determines the applicable duty rate and the permitted end-use in the destination market. Listings must state this percentage clearly to allow for accurate tax and regulatory assessment. A vague description of 'high purity' is insufficient for customs clearance and commercial contracting.

Question 7

What happens if the health certificate date is older than the transit time?

Accepted Answer

If the health certificate date is older than the transit time, the document may expire before the goods arrive. Many destinations require the certificate to be issued within a specific window, such as seven days, prior to shipment. An expired certificate renders the shipment non-compliant, leading to storage fees or destruction. Buyers must coordinate the certificate issuance date with the estimated time of arrival to ensure validity throughout the journey.
