What distinguishes aluminum Ubc can scrap from aluminum wheels scrap in terms of processing?

Aluminum Ubc can scrap consists of shredded beverage cans with a specific alloy mix that melts cleanly. Aluminum wheels scrap contains thicker sections and different alloying elements like magnesium or silicon. The particle size distribution and physical form affect how each scrap type charges in a furnace. Buyers need the specific alloy designation to calculate the correct melting yield and residual impurity levels.

Does a mill test certificate cover all Metal & Metal Products from Egypt?

A mill test certificate is standard for manufactured metal products like plates or bars. It validates the chemical assay and mechanical properties against a specific standard. For scrap metal products, the certificate may not apply in the same way. Instead, buyers rely on third-party inspection reports and radiation screening results. Always verify which document the seller provides for the specific product form listed.

How does radiation screening affect the clearance of used electric motor scrap?

Used electric motor scrap contains copper windings and steel casings that can sometimes be contaminated. Destination ports require radiation screening to ensure no radioactive sources are hidden in the motors. If the screening fails, the entire shipment can be rejected or destroyed. Buyers must confirm that the seller has pre-cleared the lot through authorized radiation detection protocols before shipping.

Why is the mineral export licence specific to the metal type?

Egypt issues mineral export licences based on the specific commodity being shipped. A licence for copper cannot be used for aluminum or steel products. The licence ensures that the correct taxes and regulations are applied to that specific metal. Shipping without the precise licence for the product category will result in seizure at the origin port. Check the licence type against the actual metal composition in the listing.

How does moisture content impact the payable weight for metal scrap?

Moisture content adds dead weight that does not contribute to the metal value. Sellers often deduct moisture weight from the gross weight to determine the payable net weight. High moisture levels can also cause corrosion or handling issues during transit. Buyers should request the current moisture percentage and verify how it is deducted from the total shipment weight.

What happens if the chemical assay of the metal does not match the listing?

If the chemical assay differs from the stated specification, the metal may be unsuitable for its intended use. The buyer may face rejection at the destination or incur additional refining costs. Discrepancies can also lead to disputes over the final payment amount. Independent inspection at the loading port is the only way to confirm the assay matches the contract specifications before the cargo leaves Egypt.

When does a quote for metal powder become invalid?

Quotes for metal powder are highly sensitive to daily index fluctuations. Sellers usually hold the price open for only a few days due to this volatility. If the global metal index moves significantly during that window, the quote expires. Buyers must confirm availability and lock in the price quickly to avoid paying a higher rate based on current market conditions.
