Question 1

How do I distinguish between Chemicals & Allied Products and Petroleum, Oil & Related Products when browsing?

Accepted Answer

Chemicals & Allied Products typically lists solvents, acids, and additives that may require specific purity grades or concentration levels. Petroleum, Oil & Related Products covers bulk fuels and refined oils where flash point and viscosity are the primary defining characteristics. A listing for Lubricant Additives belongs in the chemical branch due to its functional formulation, while bulk crude or refined fuel falls under petroleum. Check the product description for terms like 'grade' or 'viscosity' to place the item correctly.

Question 2

What goes wrong if I source cleaning fluids under Industrial Supplies instead of Chemicals & Allied Products?

Accepted Answer

Industrial Supplies generally lists hardware, tools, and rigid components that do not require hazardous material handling protocols. Cleaning fluids like Magic Kitchen Liquid For Cleaning, Bleaching are chemical formulations that may be flammable or corrosive. Sourcing them under hardware leads to incorrect packing suggestions and ignores the need for proper labeling and safety data sheets. This misclassification often results in shipping refusals or additional handling fees at the destination port.

Question 3

Why do quotes for Ipa And Ethanol resist comparison with general industrial hardware?

Accepted Answer

Ipa And Ethanol is a volatile chemical solvent where purity percentage and moisture content directly impact safety and usability. Industrial hardware, such as valves or fasteners, is priced based on weight and material grade. Comparing these quotes is impossible because the cost drivers are entirely different. A chemical quote must include hazmat handling fees and specific packaging requirements that hardware quotes never contain.

Question 4

What specific data is missing from thin listings in Petroleum, Oil & Related Products?

Accepted Answer

Thin listings often omit the exact grade or refinery source of the petroleum product. They may also fail to state the flash point or viscosity, which are critical for determining safe transport methods. Without these details, a buyer cannot assess if the product meets their equipment specifications. Always ask for the technical data sheet or specification sheet before proceeding with any order.

Question 5

How does the export documentation for Cyprus differ for raw leather versus industrial machinery?

Accepted Answer

Raw & Processed Leather requires specific phytosanitary or veterinary certificates to prove the material is free from disease and properly cured. Industrial Machinery listings need technical manuals, voltage specifications, and often customs valuation details to determine duty rates. The documentation chain for leather focuses on biological safety, while machinery focuses on technical compliance and safety standards. Verify which certificates are required for the specific sub-category before requesting a quote.

Question 6

What packing difference matters for liquid chemicals versus rigid Industrial Supplies?

Accepted Answer

Liquid chemicals like solvents require sealed drums or ISO tanks that meet hazardous material transport regulations. Rigid Industrial Supplies, such as metal fittings or tools, can be packed in crates or pallets without special containment. The packing material for liquids must be compatible with the chemical to prevent leaks or reactions. Confirm the packing method with the seller to ensure it aligns with international transport standards for that specific material state.

Question 7

Why is a general enquiry for Industrial goods & chemical unworkable for sellers?

Accepted Answer

This category spans fluids, solids, machinery, and leather, each with completely different handling and pricing structures. A seller cannot provide an accurate quote without knowing the specific product type and its physical properties. General enquiries force sellers to guess the material state, leading to delays or incorrect initial pricing. Specify the sub-category and key specifications, such as grade or dimensions, to receive a usable response.
