Question 1

How do I distinguish between the Agriculture and Industrial goods branches for flavor capsules?

Accepted Answer

Flavor capsules used in tobacco belong to the Industrial goods branch because they involve chemical synthesis and specialized application equipment. If the listing mentions daily chemical fragrances, it falls under Industrial goods or Food and Beverages depending on the intended use. Misclassification leads to incorrect handling requirements and potential rejection at the destination port if the safety data sheets do not match the declared branch.

Question 2

What goes wrong if I source polished agate from the wrong sub-category?

Accepted Answer

Polished agate is a mineral product that requires different inspection protocols than agricultural or chemical goods. If filed incorrectly, the seller may not provide the necessary mineral export permits or quality certificates specific to stone processing. This mismatch delays clearance and may result in the shipment being held for re-inspection by agricultural or industrial authorities.

Question 3

What paperwork does Botswana issue for agricultural exports like dried crops?

Accepted Answer

Botswana issues phytosanitary certificates for all plant-based exports to confirm they are free from pests and diseases. Buyers must request this certificate before shipping begins, as it is mandatory for entry into most importing countries. Without a valid phytosanitary certificate, the consignment will be destroyed or returned at the buyer's expense.

Question 4

Why do liquid fragrance listings require different handling than solid vases?

Accepted Answer

Liquid fragrances are classified as hazardous or sensitive goods requiring specific packaging to prevent leakage and contamination. Solid items like vases require protection against breakage during transit but do not have chemical safety requirements. The seller must specify the packaging standard, and buyers must verify that the transport mode allows for the declared hazard class.

Question 5

How does the landlocked status change the quote comparison for agate?

Accepted Answer

Quotes for polished agate from Botswana must include inland transport to a coastal port, which varies by rail availability and road conditions. A direct sea export quote from another country will not include these inland fees, making direct price comparison misleading. Buyers should ask for the landed cost at their nearest port to compare accurately.

Question 6

What specification matters most for concentrated liquid flavors?

Accepted Answer

The concentration ratio and solvent type are the critical specifications for concentrated liquid flavors, not the volume of the container. Buyers must check if the product is water-based or oil-based, as this determines compatibility with their production line. Sellers often omit the solvent type in the title, requiring a direct enquiry to confirm.

Question 7

What must I verify about the seller before paying for a vase order?

Accepted Answer

For ceramic or glass vases, verify the glaze composition and firing temperature specifications to ensure durability and color stability. The seller must provide photos of the actual batch, as production batches can vary in finish. Confirming these details prevents disputes over aesthetic quality, which is subjective and hard to resolve after shipment.
