Question 1

How do I tell if a listing is for Packaging Products or Chemicals & Allied Products?

Accepted Answer

Check the material composition and intended use. Packaging Products typically contain plastic scrap like HDPE drum scrap bale or BOPP printed roll scrap. Chemicals & Allied Products involve substances with safety data sheets, purity grades, or specific chemical formulas. If the listing mentions flash point or SDS, it belongs in Chemicals & Allied Products. If it mentions regrind, film, or bale, it is likely Packaging Products. Misfiling is common, so verify the sub-category selection carefully.

Question 2

What is missing from an Industrial Supplies listing that affects landed cost?

Accepted Answer

Industrial Supplies listings often omit the specific weight, dimensions, or packaging type of the item. Without this data, you cannot calculate freight volume or container loading efficiency. You must ask for the net weight and gross weight per unit, as well as the pallet dimensions. This information is critical for accurate freight quotes from Bahrain, as it determines how many units fit in a container.

Question 3

Why is sourcing Marine Equipment & Machinery different from Industrial Machinery?

Accepted Answer

Marine Equipment & Machinery requires compliance with specific maritime standards and often needs classification society certificates. Industrial Machinery may only require general safety certifications. The export documentation for marine gear is more complex, involving specific declarations for navigation or safety systems. You must verify if the item is intended for marine use to determine the correct certification and inspection requirements before ordering.

Question 4

What does HDPE blue regrind grading actually mean for processing?

Accepted Answer

Grading for HDPE blue regrind refers to the purity, color consistency, and particle size. Buyers look for low contamination levels and consistent melt flow index. The specific trade term for this specification is the melt flow rate, which dictates how the material can be reprocessed. You must check the listing for this value, as it directly impacts the quality of the final molded product.

Question 5

What packing detail must you confirm for Rubber & Related Items?

Accepted Answer

Rubber & Related Items require specific packing to prevent deformation and degradation. You must confirm if the items are packed in crates, pallets, or loose. Exposure to sunlight and ozone can degrade rubber, so the packing must specify UV protection or dark storage conditions. Incorrect packing can lead to significant quality loss during transit from Bahrain, so verify the packing method in the listing details.

Question 6

How does BOPP printed roll scrap differ from other plastic scrap in inspection?

Accepted Answer

BOPP printed roll scrap requires inspection for print alignment and film integrity. Unlike other plastic scrap, it must be checked for tears, holes, and print registration accuracy. The trade term for this is print registration tolerance, which affects the usability of the scrap for recycling or reprocessing. You must ask for specific inspection criteria related to print quality, as general plastic scrap standards do not apply.

Question 7

What is the costliest wrong assumption when buying from Bahrain Industrial goods?

Accepted Answer

The costliest wrong assumption is that the listed price includes all export duties and documentation fees. Bahrain has specific export requirements that vary by sub-category. You must confirm if the price is EXW, FOB, or CIF, and verify the cost of any required certificates or inspections. Assuming the price is all-inclusive can lead to unexpected costs at the destination port, so clarify the incoterm and included services.
