How does the chemical assay in an Iron Ore listing affect the final payable price?

The chemical assay establishes the percentage of iron and associated elements. Buyers calculate penalties based on silica and alumina levels exceeding contract thresholds. A higher grade commands a premium, while impurities reduce the net value received by the seller.

What radiation screening data must accompany a Barite Ore shipment?

Buyers need gamma radiation measurements to prove the material is not contaminated with naturally occurring radioactive elements. This data is critical for destination customs clearance. Without it, the cargo may be rejected or destroyed at the importer's expense.

Why does the mineral export licence expire before the vessel arrives?

The licence is valid only for a specific window after issuance. If customs hold the cargo for inspection or if the ship is delayed, the licence may lapse. The seller must reapply, causing administrative delays and potential demurrage costs.

How does moisture content change the weight basis for Zinc Ore?

Wet ore weighs more than dry ore, but buyers pay for dry metal content. Contracts specify a moisture allowance. Excess moisture above this limit is deducted from the payable weight, effectively reducing the price per tonne for the buyer.

What distinguishes two Mollys listings with the same nominal grade?

One may specify a tight particle size distribution suitable for specific industrial applications, while the other allows for broader sizing. The chemical purity levels, particularly trace element concentrations, also differ. These details determine suitability for the end use.

When is break-bulk preferred over container shipping for Ores and Minerals?

Break-bulk is used when the volume exceeds container limits or when the cargo is too dense for efficient container loading. It allows for direct discharge into port storage. Containers are reserved for smaller, high-value mineral powders or specialized concentrates.

What happens if the mill test certificate does not match the shipped lot?

The discrepancy triggers a claim for non-conformance. The buyer may reject the cargo or demand a price adjustment. Independent inspection at the loading port is essential to verify that the certificate accurately reflects the actual quality of the minerals.
