Does a high silica content in an Iron Ore listing reduce the payable weight?

Yes, silica acts as inert gangue that dilutes the iron content. Buyers typically pay based on the iron percentage minus the silica penalty. A listing with high silica will have a lower payable weight for the same gross tonnage. Always check the chemical assay to see how the specific silica level affects the final calculation before agreeing to a price.

Why is the mineral export licence specific to each Metal & Metal Products shipment?

The licence is tied to the specific type of metal or scrap being exported from Australia. A general licence does not cover all sub-categories. The customs authority requires the licence number to match the commodity code exactly. Without this specific document, the goods cannot leave the port, even if all other paperwork is in order.

How does the alloy designation change the handling of Aluminium ingots?

The alloy designation dictates the required temperature control and storage conditions to prevent contamination. Different alloys have different melting points and reactivity levels. A listing must specify the exact alloy standard to ensure the buyer knows how to store and process the material. Misidentifying the alloy can lead to processing failures in the foundry.

What happens if the Zinc concentration listing lacks a moisture percentage?

Moisture content significantly affects the payable weight because water adds gross mass without adding value. Without a stated moisture percentage, the buyer assumes a default level that may be higher than the actual shipment. This discrepancy leads to disputes over the final invoice amount. Always request the current moisture analysis before finalizing the trade.

Why do quotes for Copper Granules expire faster than bulk commodity offers?

Copper prices are highly sensitive to real-time index fluctuations and daily trading volumes. A quote is usually valid for only a few days because the underlying metal value changes constantly. Sellers cannot hold a price open for weeks due to this volatility. Buyers must act quickly to secure the quoted rate before the market moves.

Does the particle size distribution of Zinc Powder affect the container loading?

Yes, fine powders like Zinc Powder have a lower bulk density and may fill the container by volume before reaching the weight limit. This is known as being light goods. The carrier will charge based on the volumetric weight rather than the actual mass. This increases the freight cost per kilogram of the product delivered.

What radiation screening applies to Australian Metal & Metal Products entering strict markets?

Destination countries with strict nuclear safety regulations often require radiation screening for all mineral exports from Australia. This check verifies that the metal does not contain naturally occurring radioactive materials above safe thresholds. The seller must provide proof of clearance before the goods are loaded. Failure to pass this screening results in immediate rejection at the port of entry.
