How do I distinguish between scrap aluminium and raw ore in the search results?

Check the sub-category selection first. Metal & Metal Products contains processed goods like scrap aluminium wheels or extrusion waste, which have defined alloy compositions. Ores and Minerals contains raw geological extracts that require assay reports. If a listing mixes these, it is likely misfiled and the seller may not understand the specific inspection needs of your target material.

What specific data is missing from a UBC scrap listing that you must request?

UBC, or used beverage can scrap, is a mixed alloy stream that varies significantly in purity. Listings often omit the exact aluminium-to-steel ratio and the presence of plastic or paint residues. You must request a sample analysis or a recent assay report to determine if the scrap meets your furnace specifications for remelting.

Why does a quote for extrusion scrap require different handling than can scrap?

Extrusion scrap is typically cleaner and has a more consistent alloy composition than UBC, which is shredded and mixed. Extrusion waste may require less pre-processing before remelting, affecting your landed cost calculation. You need to ask about the form of the material, whether it is loose, baled, or densified, as this impacts shipping volume and handling fees.

What is the costliest mistake when buying petroleum products from this origin?

The costliest mistake is assuming standard shipping terms apply to bulk liquid petroleum. Petroleum requires specialized tankers or ISO containers with specific certification. You must verify if the seller can provide the necessary tank cleaning certificates and if the destination port accepts the specific grade of petroleum offered. Misunderstanding the physical handling requirements leads to massive demurrage costs.

How does the inspection point differ for ores versus processed metals?

Ores require inspection at the mine or port of loading to verify mineral content via assay. Processed metals like scrap require inspection for contamination, moisture, and alloy composition. You must specify which inspection agency and standard applies, as the criteria for raw ore are fundamentally different from those for fabricated metal goods.

What documentation does Albania issue for mineral exports that differs from metals?

Albania issues specific export declarations for raw geological materials that may include environmental compliance certificates. Processed metals often require proof of origin and mill certificates if they are newly produced. You must confirm which documents the seller can provide, as missing environmental permits can halt a mineral shipment at the border.

Why is the packing method critical for ABS plastic scrap exports?

ABS plastic scrap is often light and bulky, requiring dense baling to make sea freight viable. If the scrap is not properly compacted, you may pay for air volume rather than material weight. Ask the seller for the bulk density and confirm the baling method, as loose plastic scrap is rarely economical to ship over long distances.
