Turkish Tea

Turks developed a tradition of drinking tea because it was a social occasion and tea rooms historically served as gathering places. According to a Mintel analysis, Turkey is the country with the highest per capita tea consumption and the third-largest market for bagged tea. The densely black leaves produced there give the tea, which is grown in large quantities in a northern region of Turkey near the Black Sea, a deep crimson hue when brewed. In Turkey, real Turkish tea is typically served with beet sugar cubes. Turkish tea is never served with milk or lemon, which is a significant difference between Turkish and Indian tea.
