Polyester 2.5 layer forming fabric are also known as support shute double layer forming fabric or double layer extra designs. It's a standard double layer design with an extra shute yarn added on the forming side between the 2 regular cross direction yarns. This yarn increase the pulp fibre support and meanwhile create a more open structure as the amount of wear side yarns is reduced, compared with the forming side. 2.5 layer forming fabric's weaving effect greatly increases the fiber support index due to the addition of a fine weave at the top.
