The product is a white crystalline powder with molecular weight 1235.86 and relative density 2.498 g/cm³. It is soluble in water and ammonia, insoluble in alcohol. It loses one crystallization water when heated to 90°C and decomposes at 190°C into ammonia, water, and molybdenum oxide. It weathers in air, losing part of its ammonia. EINECS is 234-722-4.
