Numis Maldives

Numis Maldives is based in Maldives and lists wooden handicrafts on Global Trade Plaza. The products include jewelry boxes, vases, pen holders and assorted wooden items finished with traditional Maldivian lacquer work known as laajehun. Each piece is sculpted from wood and coated in multiple layers of lacquer using colours such as black, red, yellow and sometimes green, with gold or silver dust added for accent. After coating, the surface is polished with dry coconut leaves and the design is hand-etched from memory without pre-planning.
