Our story has been 40 years in the making. It had its genesis in 1982 with our first commercial planting of rubber trees on the 16 hectares of a State leasehold in Angoram district, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. Intercropping was encouraged and so cocoa trees were introduced among the rubber trees. The cocoa trees proved as the mainstay because rubber did not yield as much income as cocoa for a rural-based family. In 2019, the family made a bold venture into cocoa processing with cocoa by-products for the world market. Aging rubber trees made way for new high yielding cocoa clone trees. A year earlier, first trials of chocolate making over the kitchen bench started. This experiment led to 2023 by which time Federice Estates were truly forging ahead on a brave new journey with its local partner farmers in commercial processing of cocoa. Our main products are cocoa powder. cocoa butter, cocoa nibs, cocoa husks and cocoa mass. These are ingredients for the manufacturing of end-user products or consumer products. These products are confectionery, Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics and Functional foods and beverages.
