Cameroon is well-known for its cocoa: 4th largest cocoa-producing country in the world and the 3rd largest in Africa. The pods grow on the trunk and large branches of the tree. They are 15 to 20 cm long and 10 to 15 cm wide. They contain between 30 and 40 seeds each. The seeds are surrounded by an abundant and sweet pulp: the mucilage. Cocoa remains the main cash crop to more than 75% of the population in Cameroon.
